Xavierian Missionary Appeal:

Each year the Diocese allows one Missionary Society to carry out the Mission Appeal. This year we are welcoming the Xavierian Missionaries, who take their inspiration from life and work of St Francis Xavier

Lent Masses in our Primary Schools:

As with last year, for the time of Lent we are having weekly Masses in our Primary Schools, Our Lady's & St Bernard’s. During the coming week there will be Mass on Wednesday, 10th March at 8.20am in Our Lady's School and then on Thursday 11th March at 8.30am in St. Bernard’s School. Parishioners are most welcome at both these Masses which replace the Masses in Church. Please note that there is now only one visitor entrance to Our Lady's School from the Capenhurst Lane side.

Gift Aid:

At this time of the year we are asked by the Diocese to contact parishioners who have made a Gift Aid Declaration in our Parishes to confirm their Tax Status. Parishioners from Our Lady's are asked if they could please collect a Letter from the back of Church; information for those who Gift Aid at St Bernard’s will be forthcoming.

CAFOD Haiti Emergency Appeal:

Thank you all for your generous support of this appeal, which we are now closing. The final total banked and sent off from Our Lady’s & St Bernard’s amounted to: £2,276-83p! A great deal of this was Gift Aided which will add considerably to the value of this Gift. Any CAFOD Donations received from now on will be added to the Lent ‘Give it Up’ Appeal

CAFOD Quiz

The last Quiz of the series takes place on Friday 19thMarch at 7.30pm in Our Lady’s Parish Centre.(Quizmaster Mike Ives) All money raised will go towards Cafod’s Focus Africa Appeal. So far this winter the quizzes have raised just over £1000 and this will be used to fund essential community projects in some of the poorest African countries. A cheque was presented to Sue Bownas our diocesan Cafod manager at the February quiz (which was very well attended) Come along and enjoy a pleasant sociable evening. Bring along your own team if you can or join one on the night.

Traidcraft Stall

The stall will be open after each mass at St. Bernard’s Church this weekend (7th March) and at Our Lady’s Church next weekend (13th-14th March) . Please support poor farmers and their families in the developing world by buying some of the Fairtrade products on sale on the stall. Many Fairtrade products are now on sale in our supermarkets and the local Co-op. However Traidcraft do make extra contributions to community facilities as well as giving a better price for the products. Please note that Fairtrade Fortnight finishes this weekend.
