Many congratulations to our new Mayor, Councillor Gareth Gould together with his Consort,
Councillor Michael Edwardson and the new Deputy Mayor Councillor Paul Donovan! Together with
a number of parishioners, including Mayor Gareth’s parents and brother, we witnessed the transition
from the out-going Mayor Councillor Lisa Denson and the beginning of Mayor Gareth’s term in
office. We were treated to an excellent musical performance by the band of Ellesmere Port Catholic
High School as well as pieces of music from the Naval Cadet Band and Whitby High School, too. It
was a special moment to hear Mayor Gareth highlight the new social projects in our parish: our hot
meal provision, the Sunday foodbank, and the social supermarket - The Bread and Butter Thing -
too. I am sure we can count on Mayor Gareth’s support and encouragement over the coming year in
all we strive to do, rooted in the Gospel and in our precious Catholic Social Teaching.
