Important Changes from 3rd September 2023
Father Edmund
16 July 2023
From the 3rd September Fr Humphrey will be taking up placement at Christ the King in Bromborough and will not be replaced.

As such there will only be one Priest in the Parish of Ellesmere Port and Hooton and Bishop Mark has instructed the following changes to Sunday Mass Times:

Saturday
St Saviour - 5pm
Sunday
St Mary of the Angels - 9am
Our Lady Star of the Sea - 11am

Sadly the Following Masses will no longer be able to be said:
Saturday
Our Lady Star of the Sea - 6pm
Sunday
Our Lady Star of the Sea - 9am
St Saviour - 11am

As was announced across the Masses last weekend, we are soon to say ‘Goodbye’ to Father Humphrey O’Connor, who has been with us for almost two years. Father Humphrey will not be replaced by another assistant priest and so the Sunday Masses have needed to be adjusted, mindful of the new situation of having only one priest available.
My thanks in anticipation of your understanding. We have been on borrowed time with the bonus of an assistant priest, and the muchanticipated moment of one priest for the whole of Ellesmere Port and Hooton has arrived.
We will want to wish Father Humphrey well: Father Humphrey will leave the parish on 20 August, allowing a couple of weeks’ break to make the transition from Ellesmere Port and Hooton and to have a brief Summer holiday ahead of his first weekend in Bromborough.

Adjusting to change is never easy, and I know there will be a mixture of emotions and feelings as the new weekend schedule takes shape from September. In all of the planning in the lead up to the announcement last weekend, I was keen to brief the bishop on all the different aspects of our parishes that needed to be considered and then seek his direction and guidance. We will review in twelve months’ time to see how the new schedule bears up, and I appreciate your on-going patience and charity in adjusting to further change.
