I wanted to record in the Church that 2025 was a Holy Year. I thought it would be best to continue the stencilling that I had done elsewhere and to have the tympanum plastered and then painted, with a stencil recording the Holy Year in the space created. This elevates the entrance, the West Door of Our Lady Star of the Sea to something akin to a Holy Door for our parish. May we always experience the door of the Church always open to us, and never consider the door closed to us, nor must we ever close the doors of our hearts to our brothers and sisters, either.

The stencilling bears the crossed keys of St Peter, used by the Papacy as a symbol of the power entrusted by Christ to St Peter when He constituted him as head of the Church on Earth, You are Peter and upon this Rock, I will build My Church… I give to you the Keys of the Kingdom of Heaven: the gold key signifying Heaven and the silver key signifying Earth. Above is the triple crown known as the papal tiara, again a symbol of the Papacy. Beneath are the words, in Latin, Anno Sancto for Holy Year, together with the Latin Roman numerals MMXXV for the year 2025.
