The back wall has bothered me for some time: it needed something to help the Calvary Scene stand out. Inspired by the Icon of the Crucifixion (pictured in the lower left of the preceding page) I thought gold might work well. It certainly does make an impact and reflects the sunlight beautifully during the day. I hope it might add to the beauty of the Church and reinforce the Altar and Tabernacle as the principal focus of our prayer, devotion, and reverence as we enter Church, when we pray the Mass, and as we leave.
